Nairobi Wildlife Combination Tour from JKIA
Kenya’s wildlife trilogy in one private day from the airport — a Nairobi National Park game drive, the Sheldrick baby-elephant orphanage and the Giraffe Centre — in a 4×4, planned around the one timing that makes it all work.
Priced per vehicle — confirmed before you pay; park, orphanage and Giraffe Centre fees are separate. To leave the airport you’ll need a Kenya eTA (unless exempt). Independent tour service, not the airport or an airline.

Will the full combination fit your time?
This tour lives or dies by one fixed window: the Sheldrick elephant orphanage only admits pre-booked visitors 11am–12pm. Add a morning game drive (best soon after the park’s 6am opening) and the Giraffe Centre, and you need a genuinely long day.

What you’re booking
A private 4×4 wildlife day, priced per vehicle
One private 4×4 with a pop-up roof and a driver-guide, for your group only. You get the flexibility to time the day around the Sheldrick window and the morning game drive, and to swap components if your schedule is tighter.
We price per vehicle by group size and confirm it before you pay. Park entry, the Sheldrick visit and the Giraffe Centre each charge their own fees per person, quoted separately since they vary by residency and can change.
Price basis
Tell us your layover or date and group size, and we’ll send a fixed per-vehicle price plus an itemised list of the park and attraction fees.
Park, orphanage and Giraffe Centre fees, meals and gratuities are excluded — see what’s included.
The trilogy
What you’ll see
Nairobi National Park
Best early morning · ~2–3 hr drive
Kenya’s first national park (1946) and the only one bordering a capital city — a genuine 4×4 game drive minutes from the terminal. Home to four of the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino — no wild elephants here) and one of Africa’s densest black-rhino populations, plus giraffe, zebra and hundreds of bird species.
Sheldrick orphanage
Fixed 11:00–12:00 · pre-booked
The world-famous elephant orphanage on the park’s edge, where rescued baby elephants take their midday mud bath and milk feed. Access is a single daily hour and by advance booking only — which is exactly why the whole day is planned around it.
Giraffe Centre
Open daytime · ~1–2 hr
Come nose-to-nose with endangered Rothschild’s giraffe in Langata, feeding them from a raised platform. Relaxed, interactive and a favourite with children — and close to the orphanage, so the two pair naturally.

The fine print, plainly
Timing, delays and getting you back
Your flight comes first
On a layover, we plan around your onward check-in with a traffic buffer and drop components before we’d ever risk your flight.
If your inbound is delayed
We monitor it and re-sequence; if a late landing means missing the morning drive or the 11am orphanage, we adjust or refund per the terms on your quote.
Reservations & fees
The Sheldrick slot is pre-booked and limited; park and attraction fees are paid per person and set by each site. All are itemised on your quote.
Cancellation
Cancellation terms are shown on your written quote before you pay — no hidden fees, no false urgency.
Booked through the JKIA.co.ke JKIA Safari and Tours

Questions
Nairobi wildlife combination tour — FAQ
What does the Nairobi wildlife combination tour include?
A private 4×4 game drive in Nairobi National Park, a visit to the Sheldrick elephant orphanage, and the Giraffe Centre — Kenya’s wildlife trilogy in one day. Depending on your time we do all three or the best two, with the day sequenced around the fixed timings.
How long a layover do I need for the full wildlife combination?
For all three we recommend about 9 hours or more, because the Sheldrick orphanage only opens 11am–12pm and a game drive is best early morning. With 7–8 hours we usually do a game drive plus the Giraffe Centre. It also works as a full day from a Nairobi hotel.
Why is the tour built around the Sheldrick 11am visit?
The Sheldrick elephant orphanage admits pre-booked visitors for a single daily hour, 11am to 12pm. That fixed window anchors the whole day: we place the morning game drive before it and the Giraffe Centre after it, so everything lines up.
Do I need a 4×4 for this tour?
Yes — Nairobi National Park is a real game park with rough tracks, so we use a 4×4 with a pop-up roof for proper game viewing and photography. It also carries your group and any luggage comfortably.
Will I see the Big Five and elephants in Nairobi National Park?
The park has four of the Big Five — lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino — and one of Africa’s densest black-rhino populations, but no wild elephants live in it. You meet elephants at the Sheldrick orphanage instead, which is why the two pair so well.
How much does the tour cost?
We price per 4×4 vehicle by group size and confirm it before you pay. Nairobi National Park entry, the Sheldrick visit and the Giraffe Centre each charge their own per-person fees, which we itemise separately since they vary by residency and can change.
Do I need an eTA to do this tour on a layover?
Yes — the tour leaves the airport, so you’ll need a Kenya eTA unless your nationality is exempt. Airside-only transit passengers can’t join. See our Kenya eTA guide.
Can I do just the park, or just the elephants and giraffes?
Yes. For the park alone on a tighter layover, see our JKIA layover safari. If you can’t make the 11am elephant slot, we’ll pair a game drive with the Giraffe Centre, or build whatever combination your time allows.
Will I make my onward flight?
On a layover, getting you back is the priority. We plan around your onward check-in with a buffer, monitor your flights, and drop or shorten components rather than risk your flight. If a delay makes the tour unsafe, we tell you honestly.
Can I do this as a day trip from a Nairobi hotel instead of a layover?
Absolutely. The same tour works as a full day from a Nairobi hotel, with pickup and drop-off at your accommodation instead of the airport. Just tell us your hotel when you request a quote.
