- Check both the operating flight number and any codeshare number.
- Wait for Landed, then allow time for immigration and baggage.
- Agree on a public meeting point and keep the passenger reachable.
How to read the live arrivals information
Start with the individual-flight schedule, then use the NBO delay panel for context. The first tells you what is listed for the arriving flight; the second indicates whether JKIA is experiencing wider disruption.
Scheduled, expected and landed
Scheduled is the published arrival time. Expected or estimated is the provider’s updated prediction. Landed means the aircraft is on the ground, not that the passenger has already reached the arrivals hall.
For a pickup, allow additional time for taxiing, immigration, baggage reclaim and customs after the flight lands.
What the main fields mean
- Time
- The scheduled arrival time and, when supplied, an expected or updated time.
- Flight
- The operating or marketed flight number; codeshares can carry more than one number.
- From
- The origin airport or city shown by the provider.
- Status
- The latest state supplied by the embedded data provider.
- Gate
- An arrival gate or stand when published; it may be blank or change.
- Baggage
- Use the reclaim screens inside JKIA for the authoritative baggage-belt assignment.
Common arrivals status terms
The precise wording depends on the airline and data provider. Use these as practical interpretations, then confirm important changes with the operating airline.
The flight remains listed for its published arrival time; a live estimate may not yet be available.
An updated predicted arrival time supplied while the flight is operating.
The aircraft is on the ground. The passenger still needs time to reach the public hall.
The flight is expected later than scheduled. Base pickup timing on the newest estimate.
The aircraft is operating toward Nairobi. The exact label varies by provider.
The flight has changed destination or landed elsewhere. Obtain instructions from the airline.
The flight is not operating as scheduled. The airline manages rebooking and refunds.
The third-party feed has not supplied a reliable current status. Check the airline directly.
Is my flight delayed, diverted or cancelled?
If a flight is delayed, the board shows a later estimated time; if it is diverted or cancelled, the operating airline — not the airport — manages what happens next. Keep the page open and refresh it as the situation develops, then confirm material changes with the airline.
Delayed or diverted
A delay simply means a later estimated time — if you are meeting the flight, adjust your timing to the estimate. A diversion means the aircraft has landed somewhere else, usually for weather or operational reasons; the airline will advise on the onward plan.
Cancelled
A cancellation is handled by the airline, which arranges rebooking or a refund under its conditions. Contact the airline directly or check its app; the airport does not rebook passengers. See airline contacts for how to reach yours.
The airline is the source of truth. Live boards can lag a real situation by a few minutes. For a delay, cancellation or diversion, confirm directly with the operating airline before making onward plans.
Where do I meet someone arriving at JKIA?
International arrivals exit into the public arrivals hall at Terminal 1E; domestic arrivals come out at Terminal 1D. You wait in the landside public area — you cannot go airside to meet a passenger at the gate.
After the board shows Landed, allow time before your passenger appears: the aircraft has to taxi in, and the passenger then clears immigration, collects checked baggage and passes customs. As a rough guide, expect anywhere from about 30 to 90 minutes after landing, longer if immigration queues are heavy or a bag is delayed.
- Track the flight to Landed, then start your timer for immigration and baggage.
- Wait in the public arrivals hall at 1E (international) or 1D (domestic) — not at the aircraft gate.
- Use the short-stay or pick-up area if you are driving; see JKIA parking and the pick-up zones.
- Agree a clear meeting spot in advance, as the hall gets busy at peak arrival banks.

Which baggage belt is my flight on?
The baggage reclaim belt is assigned close to arrival. Use the screens inside the baggage hall for the authoritative assignment; a third-party web schedule may not display the belt or may update later.
If your checked bag does not appear on the belt, or arrives damaged, that is an airline matter rather than an airport one. How do I know if a flight has landed?
Look for a Landed status. Before that, use the expected or estimated time rather than relying only on the original scheduled time. Confirm an important pickup directly with the airline.
How long after landing will the passenger come out?
Allow roughly 30 to 90 minutes after landing for taxiing, immigration, baggage reclaim and customs. It can take longer during busy arrival periods or when baggage is delayed.
Why is the arriving flight not visible?
It may be outside the displayed time window, listed under the operating carrier rather than a codeshare, or temporarily missing from the provider’s feed. Check both flight numbers and confirm with the airline.
Does the live widget show the baggage belt?
Not reliably. Use the baggage-reclaim screens inside the terminal for the authoritative belt assignment. The airline’s baggage desk should handle delayed, missing or damaged checked bags.
Do the widgets require an API key?
No API key is placed in this page. Both displays are hosted embeds, although they require JavaScript, an internet connection and continued availability from their providers.
What if a live display does not load?
