JKIA is Terminal 1 (concourses 1A–1E) plus a separate Terminal 2. What’s near you depends on your concourse.

Airside vs landside
Before or after security — what’s where
“Landside” is the public area before security; “airside” is the secure area after it, for departing and connecting passengers. Knowing which is which saves a wasted walk — once you go airside, you can’t return without leaving the secure area.
Open to anyone in the terminal
- Check-in desks and airline offices.
- ATMs, foreign exchange and M-Pesa, including in the arrivals area.
- Some cafés and shops, plus the arrivals meeting area.
- Luggage storage, car hire and parking, and the transport pick-up zones.
For departing & connecting passengers
- Most restaurants, cafés and coffee are here, after screening.
- Duty-free and gate-area shops.
- Lounges, mainly in the international departures concourses.
- More charging points and Wi-Fi around the gates.

Are JKIA’s shops and restaurants airside or landside?
Most restaurants, cafés and duty-free shopping are airside, after security, so they are for the time between screening and boarding. There are some cafés and shops landside too, along with the arrivals retail. Remember that once you go airside you can’t return landside without leaving the secure area.
Is there Wi-Fi at JKIA?

Where can I get cash or exchange money at JKIA?
ATMs and foreign-exchange counters are available both landside and airside, including in the arrivals area, and M-Pesa is widely used in Kenya.
